Special thanks to A Wanderer and Her Wool for providing her Traveler DK yarn for the sample.

This pattern is being released for the Fibre Love Affair show in October, and crafters who attend my vendor presentation on October 26, 2024 will receive discount codes for the purchase of both the pattern and the yarn.

This small scarf is worked in a reversible stitch pattern, so there is no worrying about it getting twisted during the day. It will go under a coat in Winter, or keep the air conditioning off the back of your neck in Summer. The scarf has a chain cast-on and bind-off, as well as a non-bulky chain edge, that provide a polished finish to your scarf. The beautiful red shade of the yarn used in the sample was inspired by the dyer’s appreciation for the red hats worn by the flight attendants she met on an Emirates flight, but the scarf would be attractive in any solid or semi-solid, tonal colourway.

The techniques you will need to know--or learn--to complete this project are:

  • double chain (Chinese Waitress) cast-on and bind-off;
  • knit and purl;
  • slipping selvedge stitches;
  • yo increase;
  • kfb increase;
  • k2tog decrease.
