This unisex pullover is knit from the neck down to the bottom hem. It features stylized raven motifs around the upper chest yoke, as well as on the sleeves. The neckline and hems are worked in corrugated ribbing. The upper body is shaped with concentric increases. The sleeve stitches are then placed on scrap yarn or holders while the remainder of the body is worked to the hem in the round. The sleeves are then placed back on the needles and worked down to the hems as well.

You will need 2 contrasting colors of a fingering-weight yarn to complete this pattern as written. Sample knit in MC (SFN0405 –charcoal gray and CC (410 – black). You will need 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8) balls of MC and 1 (1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3) balls of CC to knit pattern as written. Sample is shown in size 40” (101.5 cm) with 2” positive ease.

Inspiration: Ravens feature prominently in many Norse legends, and in fact Odin is sometimes referred to as the Raven God. He is associated with two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, as early as Norse writings of the 13th century. These two birds circle the world in flight, gathering information and returning to share it all with Odin. Ravens are also featured in tales of battle by the Valkyrie. Images of ravens can be found in countless Viking-age artifacts including shields, armor, helmets, jewelry and carvings on longships.
