Ratha Poncho
I designed Ratha Poncho as a Mystery Knit Along to celebrate the 7th Anniversary of All Wound Up Yarn Shop.
The Ratha Poncho is the perfect eye-catching garment. It’s warm enough to stand in as a sweater, but easy to style and so comfortable for all day wear. The stitches are simple, and the pattern easy to memorize. Fingering weight yarn is held double throughout, fading as you work. The pattern includes three sizes. Video tutorials are also included.
Yarn: 6 6, 7 skeins of fingering weight yarn with at least 400 yards per skein.
Select yarns that fade from light to dark or from one color to another. Speckled and variegated yarns will work well for this pattern, but tonals will as well. Sample was worked in Black Trillium Fibres Pebble, a yarn that is no longer available. I recommend Polka Dot Sheep Tenderfoot, Malabrigo Sock, or Wildstar Fibers Supernova Sock for this project. Approximate yardage required: 2100 2280, 2550 yards.
Dimensions: S/M: 24”x54”, L/XL: 24”x60”, 2XL/3XL: 24”x66” measurements after blocking and seaming into one long rectangle, but before seaming the shoulder. Ponchos are meant to be worn with ease. I’m wearing the L/XL size and I have a 46” bust and broad shoulders.
This pattern has been tested and tech edited.
