Railings
Railings is a striking and geometric shawl that takes its inspiration from 1930s Art Deco. The shawl has pivoting bands of eyelets that are intersected by mesh lace stripes at their turning points. Together they create a clean and airy look with a dynamic feel.
You begin the shawl at the neck and work your way down. Railings is a surprisingly simple, yet interesting knit. And as it uses just one skein of fingering weight yarn, it’s perfect for that treasured single skein in your stash.
YARN
One skein of Madelinetosh Tosh Sock (100% merino; 361 m / 395 yds per 100 g). Shown in colour Calligraphy.
Or approximately 314 m / 344 yds of similar fingering weight yarn.

This shawl is worked flat, but I recommend using 80-100 cm / 32-40 inch circular needles to accommodate the growing number of stitches.
