Prosser has two lively sons, and she is an expert at smart, good-looking, practical designs for kids. This happy garment combines some of the best features of a vest and a poncho. You knit it conventionally in pieces (the back is all plain reverse st st). On completion, you sew the sleeves to the body and work the turtleneck. But then, you work ribbing along the side edges and around the sleeve ‘cuffs’ on both sides, and add four buttonholes on each side of the body ribbing; and behold! You have buttoned sides, which are fun and unconventional (see second picture).
