The Quillian Pouch was made from the Spanish Moss that I plucked from the tree branches in Cle Elum, WA on a camping trip, which I drafted together and ‘spun’ by rolling it between my palms. My friend loaned me his knife and I widdled up a pair of knitting needles out of the fallen branches, and the knitting began!

Once I was finished with a basic shape for a small pouch, I started to fiddle with yarn to seam it up and make an enclosure for the little guy, which would have been all wrong! Luckily, before I could finish my thought, my friend Lindsey nonchalantly walked up to me with a pliable and PERFECT strip of fiberous tree bark, and said ‘look what Vinny pulled off the tree!’. I paused, and think I probably blinked before I sort of cautiously said ‘…can I use that?’.
So that is where the edge seams came from. I used the same bark to wrap around a little twig and sew on for the flap, and completed it was!

P.S. yes, it’s totally functional.

One last tidbit about the name - my friends and I have a mutual understanding that her cabin is our happy place - a wonderland of sorts. After not going up there since the same weekend the year before, I decided to call the pouch ‘Quillian’ as a subtle reference to Alice in Wonderland, which means ‘the following day after Alice returns’.
