Queen of Tarts Socks
A picot hem and pretty lace make the cuff of this sock look like pastry with a fluted edge. Hearts are formed with both lace and cables down the leg and onto the instep. The heel flap has another large heart.
Queen of Tarts Socks is part of the Curiouser & Curiouser Sock Collection which also includes Mock Turtle Socks, Mad Teapot Socks, and Caterpillar’s Advice Socks.
Near the end of the book, Alice attends the trial of the Knave of Hearts. “In the very middle of the court was a table, with a large dish of tarts upon it; they looked so good, that it made Alice quite hungry to look at them -- ‘I wish they’d get the trial done,’ she thought, ‘and hand round the refreshments!’”
“The Queen of Hearts, she made some tarts,
All on a summer day;
The Knave of Hearts, he stole those tarts,
And took them quite away!”
Yardage approx. 360 (380, 400) yds
