Who can keep from saying “Ahhh” when they see a covey of quail crossing the road? With their distinctive head plumes, these little birds made adorable models for my fingerless mitts.

The suggested gauge is for a women’s medium size. Going up or down one needle size will give slightly larger or smaller mitts without affecting the shape or design.

In the pictured Quail Fingerless Mitts, the Main Color used approximately 165 yd of the Hobbii Soft Alpaca, and the Contrast Color used approximately 85 yd of the Cloudborn Fibers Limited Edition Alpaca Sport. Although the Cloudborn Fibers yarn was labeled as sport weight, the skein actually had almost the same yards/ounce as the Hobbii fingering weight yarn, and the two yarns worked very well together.
