Princess Penelope
Say hello to Princess Penelope. Penelope may look small and dainty, but she loves to go on adventures and isn’t afraid to get her dress muddy sometimes, even if her mother the queen isn’t very happy about it! She is loyal and dependable, and a true friend to everyone she meets. Penelope wears a removable dress and shoes, a petticoat, crown and flowers in her hair (which she picked on one of her adventures to the meadow).
Size (using suggested materials): 28cm (11 inches) tall and 15cm (6 inches) wide.
Intermediate pattern - a little crochet knowledge is necessary although only basic stitches are required (chain stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, double crochet and half double crochet are used within this pattern), more complicated stitches used within this pattern are described in detail. This pattern uses the amigurumi method of working in spirals.
The body of this pattern is worked as one piece from the toes to the shoulders, so no need for too much tedious hand sewing! She has a removable dress and shoes
Materials:
- dk/light worsted (8ply) yarn in the required colours (yarns used for picture were paintbox cotton, 100% cotton yarn)
- 2.5mm crochet hook
- 7mm black safety eyes
- Polyester toy stuffing
- 3 small buttons (optional for making outfit removable)
Any yarn can be used with an appropriate sized hook, although other weights of yarn will affect the size of the finished item. No required tension, as long as it is worked fairly tightly.
Please always check materials and current safety standards before giving to a small child.
