Primaveral
The Primaveral Cardigan was inspired by soft elegant vintage clothing, with a bit of a whimsical touch. I wanted to create a cardigan you would feel hugged by and so cosy in, while still looking dressed. The simple cables and wrap stitches create a subtle texture throughout that is enjoyable and engaging to knit, requiring just enough attention. It features two options for the button band - you may choose the simple crochet scallop edge or the classic double knit button band.
This cardigan is worked both flat and in the round. You start by working the body fabric from the bottom up, then each front and the back are separated and worked up individually. Three needle bind off are utilized at both shoulder seams. Then stitches are picked up along each arm hole and the sleeves are worked top down in the round. The sleeves also feature some short row shaping as a gentle sleeve cap. This pattern is best suited for an intermediate knitter that has some experience with knitting cables.
Sizes
- 1 (2, 3, 4, 5){6, 7, 8, 9} Finished garment buttoned bust circumferences: 34 (38, 42, 46, 50){54, 58, 62, 66}” / 86.4 (96.5, 106.7, 116.8, 127){137.2, 147.3, 157.5, 167.6}cm
- Choose your size to match your desired garment bust circumference. This pattern is suggested to be worn with 4”-6”/10-15cm of positive ease. Meaning the measurements of the garment are 4”-6”/10-15cm larger than your body measurements.
- Consult schematic on page 2 for garment measurements. - Sample shown in size 2 - model has 34” bust.
Yarn
- Unspun fingering weight held double throughout. Or Aran weight spun yarn held single. Or you could even hold a lace weight mohair triple.
- The sample uses Nutiden yarn, and some other similar unspun yarns include: Lopi Plötulopi, Wild Wool Canadian Wool Discs, and Wool Dreamers Manchelopis.
- Honer Och Eir - Nutiden: 100% Wool, 100g. Sample uses colorways LÄNGTAN and RODNAD - one strand of each color was held together. approx. 430 (475, 530, 580, 635){690, 740, 790, 845}grams total required.
- Please note, every colorway of Nutiden is created differently and therfore contains different fiber types, so it is very difficult to predict exactly how much yarn you will need. I always suggest purchasing more than you think you will need all at once as Honer Och Eir only produces one batch of any given colorway.
