Potholder Owl Trine
Trine the owl adorns this great potholder. As a symbol of safety, security and well-being, she makes a lovely gift and as a picture she is an eye-catcher in any kitchen. Or maybe she’ll end up on the table as a coaster? Or somewhere else entirely? There are no limits to your imagination.
The potholder is knitted in double face. The stitch sequence is written out in full in the instructions and is not difficult to knit. If you can knit the exercises from my free basic school on the double face technique which you can find in my shop under https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/double-knitted-c..., you can also knit Trine. In addition to the descriptions, the instructions also contain a counting pattern. I hope you have lots of fun knitting it.
Owl Trine is also available as a washcloth knitted with knit and purl stitches only. You can find the instructions in my store under:
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/washcloth---dish...
Stitch Gauge:
Double knitted: 26 stitches = 10 cm wide. 36 rows = 10 cm high.
With this gauge, the potholder measures approx. 21.5 cm x approx. 21.5 cm.
Materials:
• Katia Capri, 100% cotton, 50g = approx. 125m.
• 50g in ecru and 50g in petrol (or in your desired colors). I used a total of 28g per color. However, the amount needed may vary a little depending on your personal knitting style. You can also use a different cotton with a similar yardage.
• Knitting needles no. 2
• Crochet hook no. 3
• Sewing needle
• Scissors
Knowledge required:
• Stitch cast-on
• Cast off
• Knitting knit and purl stitches
• Crochet chain stitches for the (optional) hanger
What you will get:
You will receive a 8-page instruction with a row-by-row description of the potholder. The instructions also include a clear counting pattern for the potholder. The double face technique itself is not explained in these instructions. You can find a basic tutorial in double face knitting here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/double-knitted-c...
Level of difficulty:
Simple
If you can follow the exercises from my free basic tutorial Double Face Knitting (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/double-knitted-c...), you can try your hand at this potholder.
