Positive Space Cowl
As I designed the Positive Space hat, I realized that the graphical motif of that pattern would be beautiful in a reversible cowl. Once again, simply switching color dominance in a simple knitting motif has yielded eye-catching accessories.
This pattern contains instructions for two cowls: Double-Wrapped and Pullover.
Rather than use the technique of double knitting for this pattern, I opted to design these cowls as a knitted tube with two pretty seams. The seams offer fun opportunities to include a splash of color or accentuate the shifting of color dominance.
I used Malabrigo Sock yarn, a light fingering, as the base for this design. The skeins are 100% merino, breath-takingly soft and a generous 440 yards (400 meters). I was able to make the Double Wrapped Cowl using one skein of each color, but had a scant amount left over. If you’re gauge is larger than mine or if you are using yarn with less yardage, you will need two skeins of each color.
