The Port Hope striped shawl is a graceful shallow triangle consisting of garter stripes with occasional strips of easy mesh lace. You may use 2 solid colors of fingering weight yarn, or use 2 gradient sets and get gradient stripes (as shown). A gradient striped with a solid would also work great.

This shallow triangle design is knit from tip to tip. It increases in width, and then decreases after you reach the widest part of the triangle. The garter stripes form a graceful V shape and there are strips of simple eyelet lace to punctuate the design.

A very relaxing knit, the garter stitch is perfect for TV knitting or social knitting. It’s easy but not boring!

NOTE: Finished shawl totals about 180 gm, about 95gm Color 1, 85 gm Color 2. 720 yds in total.

You can adjust size of shawl by simply knitting more or fewer garter stripes.
