Poppy's Pride
After finishing a previous multi-coloured, crochet-plus-knitting garment (see DIVIDE AND CONQUER), I thought immediately about another … in only one colour. I knew I wanted the crocheted pieces to be more delicate—almost lacy—and that the knitting surrounding it needed to be very simple. I also, again, needed two weights of yarn (in this case, fingering + worsted) in the same colour. And so, with the help of the wonderful folks at BROOKLYN TWEED, this piece was born.
This garment does have some unusual construction (with a longer back and sleeves knit in pieces). But almost all ‘seams’ are executed with the 3-needle bind-off, which makes the construction less challenging. The result, I think, is fun to work, very pretty, and very wearable.
