Poppet's Blanket
When Red Heart started to sell yarn in the UK I decided to buy some and see what it was like, after all it gets rave reviews in the USA. At the same time our new cat had started sneaking onto the spare bed for a nap, so I wanted something quick and washable to cover the bed linen. What better challenge than a granny blanket!
But this is no ordinary granny blanket, the centre uses my favourite diamond pattern, which is also used in the joining and in the edging.
I used 12 different colours of yarn, 2 balls of my chosen accent colour (cherry red) and 1 ball each of the rest. Of course you may choose whatever colour scheme you like but I have written the pattern for the colours so you can see how I constructed it. My finished blanket is approximately 175cm/68” square.
The pattern is written in English and US crochet terms and is charted. It also includes a schematic for the colour scheme and photographs to help you with joining, and some ideas on variations - so it runs to 11 pages.
Because our cat is a rescue cat from The Cat’s Protection League (a charity here in the UK), I will donate £1 from the sale of each pattern until the end of next year (31st December 2014) to that charity.
