This cowl, and it’s continuous spiky spiral structure is inspired by the Aloe Polyphylla plant, an endangered and beautiful relative of the Aloe plant that grows in a perfect outward spiral. One of the most amazing examples of mathematical sequence in nature.

This cowl is worked in the round from the bottom up. You begin with more stitches and decrease down so that the
flared bottom edge will fit nicely around the shoulders. Garter stitch keeps the cowl edges from rolling.
