Polperro Gansey
by Rae Compton
This warm Shetland wool jacket is beautifully patterned with Chevron and Moss stitch panels. The pattern
is taken from a gansey worn in Polperro, Cornwall, around 1840. The dropped shoulder provides an
easy and comfortable fit.
Yarn called for is Jamieson and Smith’s Brora Softspun 20 and 22 x2 oz balls. This yarn is discontinued and Shetland Aran is a close substitute.
Important to note that the yarn is used doubled.
Notions: 8x 3cm(1.25 inch) buttons and 2x 2.5cm (1 inch) buttons.
