PATTERN NOTES
Skill Level: Easy
Stitch Counts: Stitch counts are listed after each row. If no stitch count is given, there has been no change since the previous row. For the hat, if only one number is provided, it applies to both sizes.
Right Side/Wrong Side: The right side (RS) of this scarf is the side that faces you as you crochet all odd-numbered rows. (Though both sides are pleasing enough to be presented as the RS.)
Turning Chain: The turning chain does not count as a stitch anywhere in this pattern.
Construction:
The scarf is worked lengthwise until achieving the desired width. Set-Up Rows are worked across both short ends of the scarf onto which the fringe is attached.
The hat is worked flat in two pieces: the ribbing and the body. These pieces are seamed together and cinched at the top before adding a pompom.
Pattern Multiple: This stitch pattern uses a pattern multiple of 2.
Scarf Length: To customize the length of your scarf, begin with any even-numbered chain. This beginning chain is the length of your scarf.
Changing Colors: You will change colors every 2 rows. When changing colors, work the last stitch of the row with the old color, but do not work the final yarn-over to close the stitch. Work this yarn-over with the new color. Then drop the old color (leave it there to pick up when you begin the next stripe in that color) and continue crocheting with the new color.
