The Plaid Shawl was inspired by woven plaid fabric. It uses the same idea for the construction, using two strands of yarn to create different colors. Woven plaid fabric is made by using an equal number of threads of color for the warp (the strands that are held stationary on the loom) and weft (the thread that is woven in and out of the warp). This design is reminiscent of plaid shirts worn by characters in cowboy films.

Work all squares and border stitches with 2 strands of yarn held together.
