Meet Pippa the Puffin, a sweet knitted bird with a bobble hat to keep them warm on fishing trips. There is no tricky colour-work to master in this pattern as the puffin’s chest and eye panels are knit separately and sewn on.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the puffin is knit in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round).

NEEDLES:
A pair of 4mm single pointed knitting needles (US 6).

RECOMMENDED YARN:
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; less than 25g in each colour.

NOTIONS:
Tapestry needle, toy filling, a stitch marker, two 12mm black domed half buttons for eyes, 30cm of black acrylic DK yarn for embroidery, and a 5cm pompom maker for the hat.

SIZES:
One size only - The puffin is 18cm tall without the hat, and 23cm with the hat.

TECHNIQUES:
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
