Simple shawl with lots of different textures. If you look closer you may find that little “pieces” form a pinwheel pattern.

This shawl reminds me of my Grandma’s scrap quilts. She used scrap fabric left from making clothes, her own, my mom’s, mine and my sister’s. Each cozy quilt holds decades of sweet memories, pieced together by loving hands.

You can make it in any size, kerchief, shawlette or shawl. Pattern will work at any gauge with any amount of yarn. Fingering or sport weight is recommended, but you may even try DK or worsted. Handspun and reclaimed yarn will work well.

You can work using written instructions or chart.

Knitted as asymmetrical triangle, but blocks to symmetrical one. Stretches a lot with blocking.

Periwinkle shawl was made out of reclaimed cashmere blend (fingering weight) - 19 repeats of the main pattern (40 garter triangles along long side) - approx. 620 yards - 77”x 37

One skein of sock yarn will approx. give you 33 triangles - 59” x 31”
