Pineapple Peel
Pineapple Peel has a 4-stitch, 8-row repeat + 2 selvage stitches. The selvage stitches are needed to “make 1” right next to them. 6 of the 8 rows are simple knit and purl.
I recommend pointier needles and a worsted-weight yarn with a little “give”: the “M1L” increases will be easier to work and the pattern will take shape better than a non-stretchy yarn. (100% cotton yarn didn’t work well with this stitch.) After several swatches, I found 100% acrylic yarn made the best pineapple peel shape.
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, “sl1, p2tog, PSSO”, M1L and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance. Not all yarns will work for this stitch.
60 yards of Hobbii’s Tweed Dreams yarn will make 10 inches of a 26-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
