Pilot House is built directly into CustomFit, which means that each Pilot House pattern is written specifically to your choice of gauge and size.

Pilot House was my sweater from our collection of the fall 2014 Make, Wear, Love retreat designs. I’m a pullover girl at heart, and this one features my favorite neckline and sleeve lengths (scoop and 3/4). A little bit of lace livens up the front, and simple ribbing trims the edges.

This sample was worked in The Woolen Rabbit’s Sporty Kashmir yarn, in the colorway “Forever in Blue Jeans”. This yarn is an incredibly soft, 3-ply Sport Weight and is made from 80% superwash merino, 10% cashmere, and 10% nylon. I highly recommend it!

If you’re using this yarn, you should aim for a stitch gauge of around 6 stitches to the inch to get a fabric like the one shown.

One quick note on yardage in CustomFit patterns - the yardage requirements listed here are based on my preferred gauge for the recommended yarn. And while I’ve given approximate quantities for standard size sweaters, CustomFit will make your pattern in the size and gauge of your choice. It’s pretty tough to give yardage requirements for any possible combination! If you’re not using the recommended yarn, and/or you’re not a standard size, I recommend Hannah Fettig’s amazing app, stashbot, to get a sense of your yardage requirements.

A couple of other notes about this pattern:

When choosing yarn for your version of Pilot House, please choose fibers with a nice sheen and good stitch definition if you’d like yours to look like the sample.

The number of lace repeats on the front depend on the number of stitches in your neckline. If you’re a similar size to me (~38’’ high bust, ~42’’ bust), and you’re using a sport-weight yarn, you’ll get a similar number of lace repeats.

Altering either the size of the garment or the weight of the
yarn may alter the number of repeats you get in the center of your CustomFit pattern.
