Pieces of Eight Mitts
Knitted in one piece these mitts form a “figure eight” shape around the thumb by increasing in the first part of a row and decreasing in the second part. The pattern includes illustrations concerning construction and topology.
A danish version was written by MarianneHo and is available here: http://strikkeglad.dk/2009/ottetalsvanter/
A dutch translation was provided by mijikke and is available here.
A video tutorial in Japanese has been provided by Kabosu (かぼすの手しごと) on YouTube. You can find it here (part 1) and here (part 2).

I was asked a few times about the yarn I used:
-
For the green-blue ones I used a very cheap variegated sock yarn bought at a discounter in 2012 - it’s listed here: http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/vendita-sockenwolle (Colorway 555)
-
For the red-yellow-green ones, I used Schoeller+Stahl Fortissima Mexiko. I guess Noro sock would give similar results.
