Picture Chutes
I knit this hat for myself and wore it non-stop until it disappeared. I don’t often get emotional when I lose an accessory because I’m able to knit a replacement quickly and (usually) better since I learn something with each project. But losing this hat stung. It couldn’t be replaced because it was made with a PDS Free Spirit (OOAK) colorway, and (amazingly) it did not need any mods. It.fit.perfectly.
As luck would have it, the Deebot auto-vacuum had dragged the hat across the floor and deposited it under the couch. It was later discovered by kiddo #3 who happened to be flopping around on the floor and my hat and I were reunited.
You don’t need to use a provisional cast on for this project, but should you like to try, check out our Crochet Provisional Cast-On tutorial on our Polka Dot Sheep YouTube channel. Otherwise, check out our Knit in Hem video.
Picture Chutes is knit in the round from the brim up. Like many of my hats, it features a knit-in-hat for warmth and to help retain shape over time. It is a slouchy hat, but can be modified to a beanie by following the notes provided.
Picture Chutes is conveniently written in 4 sizes and all measurements are given in Imperial and metric.
