Picot Edged Baktus
This pattern is one of eight from the e-book “Little Scarves: Baktus and Karius for the Loom”. This fun little Baktus has a simple picot edging that gives it just a “little something” extra. Because the picots like a slightly heavier yarn to help them stand up, DK and worsted weights are recommended. If you have a lighter weight yarn you wish to use, try a few rows to see how your picots will look, and perhaps use a smaller gauge. As with the other Baktus patterns, this scarf will lay flat and lends itself to any number of yarns and color patterns. You may also make it with either a point in the center, or a rounded smooth center.
Loom: The pattern is written for three loom gauges. The peg numbers below are suggested, but directions are included for varying your scarf size.
5/8 inch = 28 pegs
½ inch = 32 pegs
3/8 inch = 36 pegs
Yarn: The photo sample was made with Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine in color 109. The amounts below are suggested:
Lace = 225 yards
Fingering = 200 yards
DK = 185 yards
Worsted = 160 yards
Bulky = 145 yards
The e-book comes with two files. One is a large print 24 point font, and the other is a 12 point font paper-saver file. The book includes 8 patterns, as well as information on variations for your Picot Edged Baktus and a photo gallery.
My patterns are low vision and screen reader accessible. The text is black, Arial and large print 24 point font. All of the directions are fully written out and no charts are relied on to complete the patterns. No italics are used. They are screen reader and tablet friendly.
