Phyto Fossils Cowl
This cozy cowl works up with in a matter of hours, making it ideal for gift knitting or a treat for ourselves when we need to use up that skein of precious bulky yarn. The lace pattern was inspired by fossils of ancient plants related to our modern ferns and horsetails. The bulky gauge and simplicity of the lace means that the stitch pattern doesn’t upstage the beauty of the yarn you choose, making it ideal for tonally dyed yarns.
Notes:
- Lace pattern can be worked either from either charted or written instructions.
- Lace pattern is worked over a multiple of 14 stitches. If adjusting cowl size or adjusting for a different yarn weight, adjust cast on by multiples of 14.
- This pattern uses the crochet cast on or knitted cast on to maintain the elasticity of the lace pattern in the cowl.
Special Stitches:
cdd: centered double decrease (slip 2 as though to k2tog, k1, p2sso). 2 stitch decrease
