Penguin Conservation in Tasmania

The Penguin Jumpers Project has now finished. Over 15,000 jumpers were collected, which will be stored in Oil Spill Response Kits around Tasmania.

This pattern is available on Skienz.com. When oil spills happen and penguins are affected, they will start pulling out their feathers to get the oil off of their bodies. Unfortunately this eventually kills them as it causes them to loose their insulation and the oils which help them stay dry in the water. These sweaters are used by volunteers who are cleaning the penguins when they cannot manage to wash all of them at once. Help save penguin lives!
