There are woolly wings to warm the ears of children or adults, and an optional bow tie, easily removed..The ear flaps are held up by means of buttons, and it also requires 4 buttons for the eyes.

Yarn requirements are the same for either size, which implies you’d be left with quite a bit if making the child’s size. However, it’s easy to use stash yarn for this pattern, as long as gauge is reasonably similar.
