This hat was designed as a way to use Sari Silk yarn, which has beautiful colors but is overwhelming when used alone. In this hat the brilliant colors of the Sari silk peek through a more subdued shade of wool. It also works well for other shiny yarns, such as chunky banana yarn. It is a very quick knit.

It takes chunky 12 ply yarn. You can use any yarn that you think would look good with the Sari Silk, and you can hold 2 or 3 strands together of lighter weight yarns in order to get gauge.

The beehive color is C1 and the peek-a-boo color is C2.
65-80g (80-100 yds) C1. Chunky wool or DK wool held double
60-70g (45-50 yds) C2. (Note: recycled Sari Silk is much heavier per yard than wool.)

You will need a 16” circular needle and a set of double point needles.

It is a very versatile pattern. Make it longer, and it becomes a slouchy hat. Add another row and the peek-a-boo becomes more pronounced. You could even reduce the number of purl rows to make the purl ridges smaller.

Instructions are for 20” (51cm), 22” (56cm) and 24” (61cm) hats.
