Pebbles By The Sea Hat
This pattern includes a second PDF version that is formatted for knitters with low vision. It has black text, size 22 or larger text in a sans serif font, no italics, no columns, and fully-written directions. The chart is still included but is not needed to work the pattern. Many thanks to Gemma Thompson (gemmabelle here on Rav) and the Accessible Patterns group for their guidance in formatting patterns in a more accessible way.

This hat is named for the incredibly talented Ocean Rose and her beautiful yarn shop, Ocean By The Sea. One of my favorite spots in Ventura is a stretch of beach near the Ventura River mouth. It is covered in rocks and pebbles, and the waves crash over them all day long, making the prettiest rumbling, tumbling sounds. I go there when I need to recharge, and I always leave feeling better than when I arrived.
In keeping with that spirit, this hat is designed to be a quick, relaxing knit. It takes just one skein of yarn and can be finished in an evening if you knit quickly. As you work the twisted stitches and the moss stitch, think of the waves rolling in and out over mossy rocks, in and out, in and out. I hope you enjoy it.
