Peacock and Clematis Set
by Mary Card
This is a 3-piece cheval or sideboard set consisting of a large peacock and clematis mat and two small identical clematis mats.
The pattern was published in Chart No 88, in the English series, in the late 1930s.
When worked in No 100 crochet cotton at 10 meshes to 25 mm, the large mat measures about 470 x 300 mm and the small ones are about 160 mm across.
Note that using larger thread is going to make the mats (doilies) larger than given for size #100 thread. Not many people today use that fine a thread.
#30 thread uses 79 grams/2.8 ounces for just the centerpiece
