Parker Street is a big, thick, warm and squishy top-down triangle shawl using my absolute favourite yarn Sweet Fiber’s Canadian. (go look, it’s the best).

The shawl is named after the street I currently live on and have lived on for almost 4 years. My place is a little, bright, cozy garden suite. Some of my best buds live on this street, so much of my community is near it. Commercial Drive (the lovely coffee shop district of Vancouver) is a short 2 block walk away. I just wanted to name this shawl after it!

Dear Parker Street, you are so lovely! And so is this shawl!

Parker street includes both written and charted instructions. The lace is worked on both RS and WS rows.

Yarn:

3 skeins of Sweet Fiber Canadian in colourway “Break Water” or
570 metres (624 yards) of aran weight yarn.

Needles:

5.5mm (US 9) circular needles in at least a 60cm (24”) cord. Or whatever size needles it takes you to get gauge.

Notions:

4 stitch markers.
Whatever tools you prefer to weave in ends and whatever tools you prefer to block your shawls.

Gauge:

13 stitches and 19.5 rows = 4” (10cm) square knit flat in lace
pattern and blocked.

Size:

161.5cm (63 1/2”) measured along the wingspan.
81.5cm (32”) measured down the center spine.

Glossary of Terms:

K - Knit (K2 = Knit two stitches).
P - Purl (P2 = Purl two stitches).
YO - Yarn Over.
RS - Right Side.
WS - Wrong Side.
M1R - Make 1 Stitch Right-leaning.
M1L - Make 1 Stitch Left-leaning.
PM - Place Marker.
SM - Slip Marker.
K2TOG - Knit 2 Stitches Together.
P2TOG - Purl 2 Stitches Together.
SSK - Slip Slip Knit.
SSP - Slip Slip Purl through the Back Loop.
S1K2P - Slip 1 stitch, K2TOG, Pass Slipped Stitch Over.
