A one-skein scarf named after a one-day cycling race.

Here’s a quick and easy knit to warm you on your bike ride. Named after the famous “spring classic” cycling race on cobbled stones in Northern France, this scarf features slip stitches creating the textured surface. Unisex and surprisingly easy to style and wear.

Suggested yarn: One strand of fingering weight yarn with a sheen (such as a merino/silk blend) is held together with one strand of silk mohair throughout the scarf.
You will need one skein fingering and two balls of silk mohair.

The scarf is knitted sideways in a textured pattern created by slipped stitches which eventually resemble cobbled stones on the right side and hilly terrain on the wrong side. It has i-cord selvedges which are knitted as an integral part of the repetitive pattern. The hand-dyed sock yarn peeks out behind the fuzzy silk mohair and accentuates the shadow play of sheen and matte surfaces. The pattern is made up of 8 rows that are repeated throughout. I won’t promise that you can knit it in just one day, but as soon as you grasp the repetitions, it will be a breeze!

In the written pattern you will find explanatory videos showing the techniques used.

I hope you will enjoy knitting this scarf whether for yourself or someone you want to spoil.
