Papi's Beanie Hat Redux S-XL
My Dad, a retired Air Force Master Sargent, just loves camo hats! All the other patterns I tried were just a bit too tight for his biggish noggin…so I had to create a custom design just for him!
The genius of this hat is the faux knit ribbing made completely of sc’s. It gives the hat a snug fit without being tight…at all! Hooah, Daddy ^_^
The ribbing allows this version to fit a variety of sizes either pulled down with the brim rolled (like my Dad & Hubby) up or pushed back and slouchy with the brim unfolded (like my daughter & her friends)!
This is an advanced beginner project as it involves some simple shaping and a change in direction for the faux knit ribbing. It’s just challenging enough for beginners and more experienced stitchers will just love how fun they are to make!
I’ve also included plenty of full color pics to help along the way AND the variations for a bold center stripe or a cool two-tone version. Of course, it looks great in variegated yarns like camo, as well!
When laid out flat, the S-M measures about 9.5” across above the ribbing and about 10.75” long with the ribbing & the L-XL measures about 10.5” across above the ribbing and about 10.75” long with the ribbing.
The solid green hat was made with just one ball of Vanna’s Choice!
