This (almost) any yarn, any gauge kind of project was inspired by the abundance of details in Italian architecture and is a pure celebration of texture.

Estonian braids, nupps, slipped and wrapped stitches are accompanied by stockinette for a balanced flowy fabric. The edges are polished with built-in i-cord that is continued in the i-cord bind off as well. The tips can be decorated with playful knit bobbles. Instructions are both charted and written out, with video tutorials for tricky techniques provided.

The shawl is worked from the tip with increases along one side as a right triangle. Keep following the pattern repeat until you get to the desired size or run out of yarn!

Yarn

  • Any yarn from fingering to worsted weight range would work fine. Roughly 200g of yarn will give you a shawl of a decent size; feel free to use less or more. Numbers below are a minimum required for you to be able to tie the shawl once finished
  • Fingering weight: at least 450yds
  • Sport weight: at least 400yds
  • DK weight: at least 350 yds
  • Worsted weight: at least 300 yds
