UPDATE 10/23/2011: Pattern revised to include easier-to-read charts and instructions for 64-st and 72-st sizes.
Random fact about me: I LOVE paisley. I don’t know why, but I do and have done for a long time now. I am also determined to figure out how to knit cables in a paisley pattern to make myself a cardigan with the design. Alas, I have yet to figure it out (but I WILL!!!). In the mean time, this design sort of reminded me of paisley (hence the name).
When I bought this yarn off of someone on Ravelry I had a different stitch design in mind, but it didn’t work out. Instead, after a morning of fiddling I came up with this. It’s a top-down sock, with no cabling involved. It’s all twisted stitches, increases and decreases. Yet it swirls around quite nicely if I do say so myself.
ERRATA7/16/09 - On last row before starting heel flap, knit the last stitch of the row together with the first stitch of the next row (so that the instep will begin with a purl stitch when you begin again after working the heel flap). Turn work, sl1, then purl back over 31 stitches to begin heel flap. Ignore the purl two together instructions - these are corrected on new pdf uploaded 7/16/09.
Side note: So, I may be addicted to this yarn now. It is so soft and the colors so pretty. Sadly this one doesn’t photograph as well as it looks in person, but I did my best.
