Painting Parallelograms
This DK weight scarf features one main color striped with three contrast colors, but you can use as many contrast colors as you like. The contrast colors meander to the left and right with slip stitches to create a parallelogram motif. The simple cascading rhythm produces a zig zag I-cord edge, which crisply frames the long scarf.
You can easily customize the length of this scarf by knitting more parallelogram repeats or bind off early for a shorter length.
Sizes
Long Scarf (Wide Wrap)

Wide Wrap shown in blue
Finished Measurements
94 (78)′′ / 239 (198)cm long, 11 (18)′′ / 28 (45)cm wide. Measurements taken after blocking.
The length is easily customizable by knitting fewer or more pattern repeats.
Yarn
DK Weight
If you want to make a fingering weight version, I recommend following the Wide Wrap size with fingering weight yarn to get a nice size.
Yardage
MC - 480 (800)yds / 439 (732)m
CC1 - 225 (375)yds / 206 (343)m
CC2 - 225 (375)yds / 206 (343)m
CC3 - 225 (375)yds / 206 (343)m
The yardage above is recommended if you are using 1 MC + 3 CC’s. The wide wrap (pictured in blues) features 1 MC + 4 CC’s. It was knit using 4 skeins of the MC + 1 skein of each CC (4 CC’s) using West Wool Tandem.
If you want to make the wider wrap size, it will work nicely with 4 skeins of DK weight yarn for the MC + 4 CC’s (1 skein of each CC). The larger wrap would make a very cozy shlanket for your couch.
