The painterly quality of these gloves comes from working with two colors on most rows, then, when a color change is called for, changing only one color at a time to create subtle color blending. Make the gloves with a plain cuff or with the I-cord cuffs. Both pairs are worked in the round, with no shaping (nothing to distract you from concentrating on your colorwork), from cuff to fingers, with time taken out for the thumb. (Interweave)

Gloves with I-cord cuffs: About 7 1/2” (19 cm) around and 11 1/2” (29 cm) long from cuff to end of fingers.

Gloves with straight cuffs: About 7 1/2” (19 cm) around 11” (28 cm) long.

Needles: Cuff and Hand—Size 2 (2.75 mm): Set of 5 double-pointed (dpn). Fingers and thumb—Size 2.5 (3.0 mm): Set of 5 dpn. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Markers (m); tapestry needle

Gauge: 30 sts and 27 rows = 4” (10 cm) in color patt worked in the round on smaller needles, and using only one strand of the 3-strand yarn.
