The Painted Desert is a National Park in Arizona. I enjoy visiting the park and seeing the many shades of pink in the dry earth. These visits and views inspired the design.
These color-work socks are made using two contrasting colors. It features Vayu from Serendipitous Wool Co. but can be made with any fingering weight yarn.
Difficulty Level
Intermediate/Adventurous Beginner: Familiar with knitting in the round, able to work with double pointed needles (or other small circumference knitting methods), familiar with reading color-work charts.
Skills Required
Cast on, working in the round on circular needles, working from charts, stranded color-work, working with double pointed needles (or other small circumference knitting methods).
Size
Youth/Adult Small (Adult Medium) Adult Large,
or S (M) L to fit a 7”, 8”, and 9” foot circumference.
Sample shown in size Medium.
Suggested ease is approximately ½” (1.2 cm) of negative ease around the circumference of the foot.

US size 3 (3.25 mm) 9” circular needle, or long circular for magic loop.
US size 3 DPNs, set of 5.
Fingering weight yarn in two contrasting colors.
