Paint the whole world
Warm and squishy with loads of texture, this cowl was designed to use scraps and mini skeins but works equally well in a single colour.
Yarn: 36 (42, 84) g total sock / 4 ply weight yarn, 420 m / 100 g. 6 (7, 14) g in each of six colours.
Shown in: A Little Bit Sheepish British Bluefaced Leicester mini skein set in “Bass notes”; 100% wool; 480 m / 120 g.
Needles: 4.0 mm / US 6 circular needle(s) for working in the round on a small-medium circumference, 60 cm / 24” length suggested.
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch marker.
Skills: Cast on, working in the round, knit, purl, decreasing stitches, yarn over, cast off, weaving in ends.
Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows over 10 cm / 4” in seed stitch. Gauge is not critical for this project; choose needles that give a fabric with some drape. Please note changing the gauge will affect the yarn requirements.
Sizing: Pattern gives stitch counts for a cowl circumference of 30 (37, 75) cm / 12 (14 ½, 29 ½)”. This pattern is simple to resize- add or subtract stitches in multiples of two. To increase the depth of the cowl work more repeats of the pattern before finishing off.
