Sometimes I get crazy ideas for designs I’d like to explore. That’s exactly what happened with this cowl. I knew I wanted to design this style of cowl because I love the double-thick fabric and that you knit the entire thing in the round. A layer of Stockinette stitch behind a lace panel seemed to be the perfect design challenge to go along with it. The effort to assemble this piece is completely worth it — it’s truly is an interesting cowl you’ll want to show off to your family and friends!

Materials

• 350 yards of fingering weight yarn in color A
• 700 yards of fingering weight yarn in color B
• 3 sets of US Size 4 (3.5mm), 16” circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
• 2 stitch markers
• Size G-6 crochet hook
• Waste yarn
• Tapestry needle
• Blocking Supplies

Pattern Notes
Pattern lists that three circular needles are needed for this cowl. You will be knitting two pieces that will be worked separately and then attached by knitting together. You’ll also need to use the extra circular to graft stitches together when finished.

When grafting stitches together at the end, be careful not to twist the work. I found the easiest way to start is lay the piece flat, folded in half and start grafting from the inside.
