Easy little socks to celebrate spring and flowers, that is what this pattern is ! This is a toe up pattern, in the round. The explanations are based on circular needles and magic loop but it works all the same with DPN. Right and left foot have the same explanations (same chart). There is something new with this pattern because I tried to create a new heel ! The gusset is on the top of the foot (usually it is on the bottom) and it is worked without any technique of short rows (and no holes !). I added a lovely flowery pattern on the back of the heel, a doubled ribs edge on the ankle to keep warm and there you go !

Ostara is the name of a pagan celebration made on Spring Equinoxe. It symbolizes the return of life and earth after a long and cold winter and the come back of the goddess of the same name as a young maiden.

Material :

• Thread : Fingering 4ply - Between 200 and 350 m.

My version : Crème de Laine, Laine à bas ( 75% merinos, 25% nylon, 377m / 115gr), color : bonbon à la violette (+ Drops Fabel for the edge rib, apple green color). For information, I used 250 m in total for a size 22 (lenght 37 French) ; 190 m purple, 60 m green).

• Circular needle 2,5 mm (or size needed to obtain gauge).

• 3 markers (including one to indicate the front of the sock).

• 1 sewing needle to «sew» the edge ribs on itself.

Gauge :

30 st x 40 R = 10 cm in st st, in the round, washed, blocked and dry.
You have to respect this gauge if you want to obtain the right size.

Sizes :

The size are calculated according to the circumference of the foot, at the larger spot, usually it is right under the toes. They are given in centimeters : 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 cm. Take your measures with the foot flat on the ground. Choose the closest size to yours. Also, measure the length of your foot, from the longest toe to the heel.

Inside the pattern you will find explanations to adapt the sock to your instep (4 type of adjustment) to get the perfect size.

Des petites socquettes toutes bêtes, pour fêter le retour du printemps et des fleurs ! Basée sur un talon dont le gousset est sur l’avant de la chaussette, cette paire se tricote avec un talon sans rang raccourci ni trou. Un petit point fleuri pour décorer le talon, un bord côte doublé au niveau de la cheville bien chaud, et hop vous voilà parée !

Ostara est une fête païenne célébrée au moment de l’équinoxe de printemps (c’est-à-dire aux alentours du 21 mars). Elle symbolise le renouveau de la vie et de la terre, après un hiver froid et dur, et le retour de la Déesse sous son visage de jeune fille.

Matériel :

A titre indicatif j’ai utilisé pour une taille 22 et pointure 37 : 250 m au total (190 m de violet et 60 m de vert).

• Aiguilles circulaire 2,5 mm (ou la taille nécessaire pour obtenir l’échantillon)

• 3 marqueurs (dont un pour indiquer le devant de la chaussette).

• 1 aiguille à tapisser pour «coudre» le bord côte doublé.

Échantillon :

30 m x 40 R = 10 cm en jersey en rond, lavé, bloqué et sec.

Il est très important de respecter cet échantillon si vous voulez obtenir la bonne taille.

Tailles :

Les tailles sont données en fonction de la circonférence du pied au point le plus fort, généralement juste sous les orteils, en cm : 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 cm (ce qui correspond à des tailles adultes).

Mesurez les deux pieds à plat sur le sol. Choisissez la taille la plus proche de la vôtre. Si entre deux, préférez la plus grande. Mesurez également la longueur de votre pied de l’orteil le plus long au talon.

Dans le patron vous trouverez des explications précises pour adapter la chaussette à votre cou-de-pied (fin ou fort, 4 ajustements disponibles en tout) afin d’obtenir la taille parfaite !
