ORU
織る (Japanese) - woven
Double brioche is a unique stretchy stitch pattern that has been largely unexplored due to its complexity. ORU hat combines both brioche and tuck techniques to ease up the execution process. In making of this hat you will also learn special decreases that help shaping of the crown without interrupting the pattern flow inside or outside, rendering it completely reversible. Solid or bicolor versions are presented with options for shallow or deep crowns. This allows for various ways of styling of this doubly warm hat!

GAUGE
16 sts and 44 rnds = 4” in Double Brioche Rib on smaller needle, measured after washing and blocking
Note that 44 worked rnds in Double Brioche looks like only 22 rnds, because each stitch is slipped (or the equivalent) on alternate rnds.
NOTIONS
Stitch marker
2 cable needles (CN1 and CN2)
Tapestry needle
NOTES
This hat is completely reversible.
If you do not wish to use the recommended long-tail tubular cast on, you can substitute a crochet chain cast on using a needle 1 or 2 sizes larger than main needle.
A stretchy cast on is important, to match the elasticity of double brioche rib.
Slip all stitches purlwise unless otherwise specified.
To join yarn please use spit splice method to create most invisible join.
The decreasing in double brioche can be a challenge, try to practice on a swatch first before working on the hat.
