Origin
Origin is a Fingering (4ply) shawl that features a garter stitch and eyelet body that develop into a diamond lace in a contrasting colour for a decorative border. It was inspired by the vision behind the featured yarn which is grown, processed, and dyed in Australia and serves as a reminder that who we are, and become, is connected both to the land and the people of the past.
This pattern contains full written instructions, charts, and a tick-sheet.
Yarn
MC (most variegated): 100g Fingering (4ply) weight yarn (sample used 73g Great Southern Yarn Fingering which is 320m/350y per 100g/3.53oz col. Jean Isherwood)
CC1 (semi-solid): 100g Fingering (4ply) weight yarn (sample used 79g Great Southern Yarn Fingering which is 320m/350y per 100g/3.53oz col. Natural)
Needles & Notions
4mm (US 6) needles. I like to use an 80cm (31 1/2”) circular needle set but straight are fine also.
Stitch markers (min. 2, max. 38). Removable marker or safety pin (optional).
Tension/Gauge
17 sts and 24 rows per 10cm (4”) square over garter stitch and eyelet pattern after blocking.
Finished Measurements
Approx. 51cm (20”) deep at centre x 170cm (67”) wide after blocking.
