Oriel Lace Scarf/Stole
This lovely lace pattern is rumored to have come from Ireland around 1880, specifically from the Oriel District around County Monaghan. Although it has a “right” and a “wrong” side, it is equally attractive on both.
I originally wrote this in K1C2 Douceur et soie and Nancy Bush asked me to do something that would take 1 skein of Nordic Lites. I love it in both yarns. It is available (with chart) in a single leaflet from the Wooly West and at my website, and is also featured in the 101 Designer 1 skein Wonders book from Storey Publishing. Oriel Lace was not a popular Lace motif at the time I wrote this, but now it pops up everywhere, which is good because it is a lovely old motif and has been a favorite in my family for generations.
When I submitted it to 101 Designer 1-Skein Wonders, it included a chart and a stole version with 5 repeats across in addition to the 3-repeat scarf, but they featured it without the chart or the stole info. pm me (agilmour) here at ravelry if you purchased the book & would like a pdf of the chart…
