The name of this pattern is a bit deceiving. Grape? The name makes one think of purple and the edible variety of grapes. These socks are named after The Oregon-Grape, the state flower. An evergreen type of shrub that blooms dainty yellow flowers in the late Spring, and sports purplish-black berries in the Autumn. Its official name is Mahonia Aquifolium. It is a native Pacific Northwest plant and rarely grows east of the Cascades. I was inspired by the lace pattern and the color of the yarn, to name it after Oregon’s state flower. Feel free to make these socks in any color you like, even purple.
