I designed a little swing jacket for a small girl and was asked time and time again if I could work out the pattern design for an adult version. And here it is. The Roses were added for fun. You can of course just knit the cabled jacket without the rose if you prefer a more understated elegant cable coat. Worked top down with no seams; I love no seams! The sleeves are added on after the main body is complete as is the button band (if you would prefer to clasp the fronts together with no buttons, say with a shawl pin, omit the buttons holes, or leave to swing freely.

The aesthetic works, the design works and the knitting experience is a joy. The yarn used is LIGHT MOONSHINE – one of the softest yarn I have ever knitted with. Pure luxury in your hands. Cables always look so amazing, stocking stitch and garter stitch are always easy and when one gets into the rhythm can knit up quite quickly.

With huge thanks to the fabulous Elaine Orchard whose suggestions and knitting skills have helped bring Orchard Rose to life.
