When I was a kid, my sister had an incredible knack for finding the perfect skipping stones. We would spend hours at the creek filling our pockets with rocks, then making them hop across the water. The self-striping yarn at the center of this shawl reminds me of a skipping stone, whizzing across the top of the water, causing ripples in the creek’s surface. The Onward & Outward Shawl was designed for fun. The unusual construction in this shawl gives you the chance to play with your yarn as you create short row wedges that warp and stretch the stripes in your self-striping yarn. The dramatic result is surprisingly simple and extremely fun to knit!
