One Step Ahead is a fully reversible, triangular shawl with a refreshingly simple construction. It is worked sideways, in one piece, starting at the corner and finishing with a garter stitch edge.

The Zig Zag pattern is made with knit and purl stitches only and in a sequence that is quick to memorize. It can be ended after any wrong side row.

The shawl size and yarn weight is adaptable, but DK weight yarns work best. Fingering and worsted weight yarns are suitable as well, just adjust the needle size and yardage requirements.

The sample shawl shown here is made with approx. 600 yds (550m) or 4 balls of Rowan Softyak DK, 76% cotton, 15% yak hair, 9% nylon, 148 yds (135m) per 50g ball, col. 239 Plateau.

Finished Measurements of sample shawl: 60” wide and 34” deep (152cm x 86cm).

The instructions are fully written and in form of charts. The pattern is easy and suitable for beginning knitters.
